ABOUT THRIVEWELL

Built on Lived Experience. Rooted in Understanding.

ThriveWell by Sandra Probert was created from a simple belief: nobody living with chronic illness, disability, persistent pain or fatigue should have to feel invisible, misunderstood or alone.

Built on lived experience, ThriveWell brings people together through genuine connection, shared understanding and accessible wellbeing education. It's a place where you can be yourself, without judgement, unrealistic expectations or pressure to keep up with anyone else.

Our online community welcomes adults from across the UK, while our in-person gatherings bring people together locally throughout Oxfordshire.

At the heart of ThriveWell is something simple but incredibly important: being understood can make a real difference.

Meet Sandra — The Person Behind ThriveWell

Hello, I'm Sandra, the person behind ThriveWell.

I created ThriveWell because I understand how isolating and overwhelming life with chronic illness and disability can sometimes feel.

I wanted to build something that went beyond advice and information.

Somewhere people could connect with others who genuinely understand, share experiences without judgement, and feel recognised rather than overlooked.

ThriveWell is built around the belief that support should be realistic, accessible and shaped around people's everyday lives, not expectations of what they should be able to do.

For me, ThriveWell isn't just about providing resources. It's about creating a community where people feel they belong.

What Makes ThriveWell Different

Built on Lived Experience

ThriveWell is shaped by genuine lived experience of chronic illness, disability and long-term health challenges. We understand that everyday life isn't always predictable, and support should reflect that reality rather than place more expectations on people.

Genuine Connection

Living with chronic illness or disability can sometimes feel incredibly isolating, particularly when those around you don't fully understand what everyday life can be like.

ThriveWell brings people together through shared experiences, meaningful conversations and mutual understanding, creating opportunities for genuine friendships and connection without judgement.

Support That Fits Real Life

Living with a long-term health condition often means adapting plans, managing unpredictable symptoms and working within changing energy levels.

ThriveWell offers practical wellbeing resources, shared experiences and opportunities for connection that recognise these realities. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, just support that respects individual circumstances and encourages progress at your own pace.

A Community Without Pressure

At ThriveWell, there's no expectation to always feel positive, attend every activity or explain why you're having a difficult day.

Everyone experiences chronic illness and disability differently, and those differences are respected.

Whether you want to join a conversation, share an experience, learn something new or simply listen quietly, you're welcome to take part in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

Experience, Recognition & Community Connections

ThriveWell is built on more than good intentions. It brings together lived experience, relevant training and an understanding of the everyday challenges faced by people living with chronic illness, disability and long-term health conditions.

Over time, ThriveWell has developed connections with local organisations, community networks and referral services, helping more people discover the support available to them.

While ThriveWell is an independent, non-clinical service, these connections reflect our commitment to providing accessible, responsible and meaningful community support.

Training & Experience

ThriveWell is founded and led by Sandra Probert, bringing together personal lived experience, experience within care settings and a broad background in training and professional development.

Sandra's qualifications and learning include NCFE Level 2 Counselling, Level 3 Expert by Experience Peer Support, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Journal Therapy, Nutrition and Wellbeing, alongside training in meditation, holistic health and community support standards.

Her background also includes care-related training covering dementia awareness, care planning, infection prevention, emergency life support and supporting vulnerable adults.

Sandra continues to develop her knowledge through learning opportunities relating to community wellbeing, health inequalities and inclusive support.

This combination of lived experience, practical understanding and ongoing learning shapes ThriveWell's approach: compassionate, accessible and grounded in the realities of everyday life.

ThriveWell provides non-clinical peer support and wellbeing education, not medical treatment or counselling therapy.

Referrals & Connections

ThriveWell has worked to build awareness and connections with health, care and community organisations, helping more people discover support that understands the realities of living with chronic illness and disability.

We have received referrals through NHS services and Age UK, alongside conversations with social prescribing teams and local community organisations.

ThriveWell is listed on Oxfordshire County Council's LiveWell directory and Community Catalysts' Small Good Stuff directory, helping individuals, families and professionals find out about the support available.

These connections are part of our ongoing commitment to reducing isolation, encouraging meaningful community connections and making non-clinical peer support more accessible.

ThriveWell remains an independent service, welcoming adults from across the UK through our online community, with in-person gatherings in Oxfordshire.

How ThriveWell Supports You.

Online Support — Across the UK

You don't need to live in Oxfordshire to be part of ThriveWell.

Our online community welcomes adults from across the UK who are living with chronic illness, disability, persistent pain, fatigue or other long-term health conditions.

Through our membership, you can access supportive conversations, practical wellbeing resources, worksheets, online group meetings and opportunities to connect with people who genuinely understand.

Whether you enjoy taking part in discussions or prefer to quietly explore resources at your own pace, you're welcome to participate in a way that works for you.

There's no pressure to keep up, and no expectation to be having a good day every day.

In-Person Gatherings — Oxfordshire

Sometimes, there's nothing quite like sitting down with people who genuinely understand what you're going through.

ThriveWell organises welcoming, informal community gatherings in different locations across Oxfordshire, giving adults living with chronic illness, disability and long-term health conditions an opportunity to connect face to face.

These gatherings are about conversation, friendship, shared understanding and simply enjoying time together.

You don't need to prepare anything, share your personal experiences or take part in every conversation. Whether you're feeling chatty or would rather sit and listen, you're equally welcome.

Our gatherings are relaxed, inclusive and shaped around the understanding that everyone's health, energy and circumstances are different.
